I was so excited to meet with Anna last week, we were going to SDSU to shoot inside one of the dance studios. There is a part of me that wants to just let loose whenever I walk onto that wood floor, I’m just lucky their was no music playing otherwise I might have succumbed to a bit of dance fever as they call it. I’m not saying I was able to leave unscathed, but I was able to get a few cool shots of Anna before it got a hold of me. We were actually told we couldn’t shoot there about 30 or so minutes into it, which at least gave us a few good shots before we had to shut down. So far it has been better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission when it comes to shooting, you would be surprised at how many places you’re not supposed to shoot at. And here I was thinking this was a free country? haha Since we were no longer welcome inside the studio, we both headed out to the campus. I find the more and more I go to SDSU the more I like the grounds and surrounding landscape, but that could just be because there was no one there. It could be another story if it was filled with close to 30,000 college kids running around.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with Lani last week for an impromptu shoot out in Mission trails. I was a little worried about the heat and the light when we decided to go out there at 3pm, but it turned out to be a wonderful day. I’m always amazed at how much beauty I can find, everywhere I turn something new and exciting seems to jump out at me. I feel like such a kid at times, savoring each moment with all the magic that comes with it.

Last week I was blessed to go out and shoot with Paige & Anthony out in the sticks of East County. Paige (a fellow San Diego photographer) and I have been talking about setting something up for a while now, so far it had never worked out. It’s always exciting to go out and shoot with another photographer, although it can be a little more nerve wracking. The days leading up to the session were some of the hottest we have experienced this summer. I was so grateful for the clouds that suddenly rolled in a couple hours before the shoot, it was still a hot day but now it was manageable. We even got a little rain here and there, definitely not our normal sunny San Diego weather. As we walked into the woods we were attacked by all the little bugs and critters flitting about the stream that ran thru the trees. Creepy crawlers aside the fauna was beautiful, with a wonderful mix of greens and yellows all around us. I would definitely go there again, I just might invest in a can or two of bug spray…
