Jessi & Sage’s Wedding

Jesse & Sage are an amazing couple, just from watching them you can see the love in their eyes and actions. I had the honor of capturing a few of the many beautiful moments that  I’m sure they will share throughout their lives together. I half expected another normal San Diego wedding, but low and behold rain drops were falling on my head as I walked out the door. As if rainy days are not rare enough in SD, how about a rainy day on your wedding. Although I hear it is good luck for it to rain on your special day, at least that is what people kept saying throughout the day. Never could get a straight answer why, so me being mister curious I had to look it up. At first I thought it may be a reference to God and the hosts of heaven, the skies opening up and tears of joy pouring down. But as I read I found that many cultures believe rain to be a good omen of sorts, Hindu’s knew that adding water to a cords tied in a knot is more resilient, thus as you tie the “knot” a little water will make the bond that much stronger. Rain was also a symbol of fertility to agricultural societies, since rain restored and maintained the wellness of crops. Crops were peoples main source of stability and income so it was thought to guarentee a long happy marriage! There were also some parallels drawn between agricultural fertility and and human fertility, some say if it pours you better start expecting plenty of little ones in the future. Any way you look at it there seems to be a lot of good that comes from the rain, a sustaining force that we could not do without. It truly was a blessed day, I wish Jesse & Sage the best, may they have many years happiness together and possibly a big house ;) you never know???

The Cousins Went Out Today…

Last Friday I got to go out with three sisters and all their kids to shoot Christmas pictures.  It was a great experience for me, I had to shoot 7 little kids that all wanted to look somewhere else. The little boy would hardly sit still long enough to shoot a picture, his sister tried to hold him down but there was just too much for him to do or look at.  We did get some great pictures though, but it took all the adults in the group a certain amount of patience and creativity behind the lens to get them to look towards me.  Maybe I should have brought some props, a rubber ducky possibly, or fire works,  I just needed something they wouldn’t be able to resists looking at.  Although then I would have run into the problem of keeping it out of their hands, when did curiosity become a bad thing? For me I think it may have been right after I stuck a key in an electrical outlet, or was it after I ran through a bunch of broken glass chasing after a tennis ball???  Truth is I think I am still after that ball, even if there is a chance I may put an eye out:) untitled-2
