A week ago I got a chance to shoot with a group of photographers up in Claremont. it was the first time I was going to shoot with a bunch of professional photographers, so as you can imagine I was a bit excited and maybe a little nervous. I really didn’t know what to expect, truth is I felt bad for the models we were using. If you have ever modeled for someone you know what it’s like to have the photographer tell you what to do, now imagine that times 7. Yeah it was a little crazy at times, but our models were amazing. They always had a smile on their faces, unless we asked them to be serious of course. for the most part I tried to capture moments that I didn’t have to create, hopefully making our models a little less stressed. I’m so glad I was able to go out and shoot with a bunch of photographers, we all had an amazing time getting to know each other, I might have even learned a thing or two. Maybe down the road you will see some more group photographer shoots, shouldn’t be hard to find a few willing to come out with how many we have in San Diego.

Here we have Edmund Prieto making a little magic for us, who ever said you couldn’t have a little fall in Springtime.

So I ended up getting a good collection of feet, didn’t know what to do with them so I made a a sort of tribute to their least acclaimed extremity …

This is one interesting character here, he seemed to come out of nowhere. Riding his bike down the road we were shooting on, then all of a sudden he has two cameras out and he is taking pictures left and right.

A while back I had the pleasure of following Jonathan and Debbie Ackermann as they walked around Seaport Village in down town San Diego. It was amazing just being able to capture a bit of the spark that the two of them have, there is a definite connection they share. Debbie was so excited to be able to put her dress on again, she proudly strutted her stuff up and down the boardwalk as Bethany Murphy and I captured some great shots. Jonathan was a good sport, always at her side making memories that we snapped up for them to share for the rest of their lives. My goal was to capture the simple moments, the ones you can’t try and create. I wanted it to be as real as possible, a second in time that they remember, not because of the picture but because their love tied them to that moment.

Don’t be fooled by the picture below, this shoot was no laughing matter. Yes the turtle sunning himself was just a bonus, although ariving early at Heritage Park may have had something to do with it. There seemed to be a lack of subjects that desired my attention at the time, so I guess our little friends here had their day in the sun too. After snapping a few shots here and there, I was introduced to the Wardrop family, a fun and energetic group ready to dive into the thick of things. I was second shooting for Bethany Murphy, a great photographer working in the San Diego area. The Wardrop family choose their own location which turned out to be a pretty amazing place to take pictures, there was a waterfall, boats along the shore, a colonial town surrounded by water with playground equipment inside the houses. It really made me wish I was young again, if only I had something like that when I was little. I had to build my own forts sheets and furniture, as I got older I built them out of wood, but nothing I ever built could be compared to this place.

Dad’s way of getting a smile from his little girls, you should have seen the looks he was given for his efforts…
