A couple weeks ago I took my niece and my good friend Bethany Murphy out to have some fun with our cameras. It wasn’t all fun and games though, we were on a mission. I saw this bridge a while back and I’ve been looking for an opportunity to employ it. What better way can you think of than with a camera and attractive model? These are some of the first shot we did. Afterwords she put on a dress, but I’ve decided to split it into another post. The weather was beautiful and the bridge turned out to be a really cool place to shoot. I’m so glad I got the chance to take the girls out and shoot. We had so much fun goofing off out on the old bridge.

This week I got to go out to the Del Mar Fair with some of my family. We thought we would all try to go on $2 Tuesday, maybe save a little money on admissions so we could spend it on food. I think everyone had the same idea last Tuesday, there was a line that started about a mile before the freeway exit. I actually went past the Fair turned around and came back the other way, seemed a little faster at the time. I was then immersed in more traffic than I have ever seen up in Del Mar, I feel so sorry for the people that live around the fair grounds. I had the grand notion that the parking was obviously full next to the Fair grounds, so I turned and headed for the outer horse parking area. It took me about 30 minutes to go the two+ miles to find out that it had been full for over two hours, which was quite frustrating for me and every other driver that was on the road. I ended up having to drive all the way around again, luckily I did finally find a place to park about 45 minutes later, which was a pretty sweet spot by the way;)
The Fair was great, I had so much fun hanging out with my niece, nephew, and second cousin. We pretty much walked all over the place, we even found some under ground worm racing going on. Turns out I should have put some money down on my nephews worm, he smoked the rest of the class. At first everything was looking up for my worm, right when he hit the board he made a run for the dirt in the middle. But it seems my worm tired quickly and fell behind, I think he may have been fed up with the poor treatment associated with racing worms. Let me just say, betting on worms is a risky business the tables can turn when you least expect it. After losing my pride and dignity I helped my lazy worm reach the dirt, congratulated the winner and got up.
We spent about 8 or so hours cruising the Fair, not really with any particular aim or goal. I guess you could say we were just looking for a good time. For some reason they have a lot of racing at the Del Mar race track, and not the kind you would normally think of. Turkey’s were the name of the game tonight, and they were looking for some action. They put some food in the back of an radio controlled car then drive like mad, for some reason the turkeys love it. If they catch the car it disappears in a flurry feathers. I guess they are going on car number 7, the other numbers were not so lucky.

I’m so blessed to live in San Diego, there are so many amazing places to take pictures. Last weekend I spent a good portion of my Saturday downtown and in Seaport village, I was shooting Paul & Tiffany Carbaugh with Bethany Murphy. As you can see we all had a great time, although the weather was less than perfect. I guess these fellow photographers thought it would be nice to share a bit of their Seattle weather with us, something they learned back in kindergarden I suppose. It rained off and on for most of the day, which I guess wasn’t all bad, it did make for some even lighting. Did you know that you have to have a permit to shoot pictures in Seaport Village? We didn’t know this little secret until a hefty security guard came over and told we needed to go to the office and get a permit. So we asked politely where that might be, he then went on to tell us that they were closed today so we were out of luck. Disappointed we started walking to the other side of the Village taking a few shoots here and there as we went along, being careful not to be seen of course. We ended up taking quite a few pictures around Seaport Village, then we headed into downtown San Diego on foot to get some Jamba Juice.

Took a little bit of effort, but Paul did finally manage to balance long enough to take a picture…
